About Alexandria Quantum Hackathon
Welcome to the Alexandria Quantum Hackathon—Egypt’s first-ever national quantum hackathon—proudly hosted by the Bibliotheca Alexandrina and supported by OQI—The Open Quantum Institute (hosted at CERN, born at GESDA, and backed by UBS).
Following the remarkable success of the Alexandria Quantum Hackathon 2025, which brought together talented participants from Egypt and across the region, we plan to making the hackathon an annual event. Each year will build on the previous edition’s achievements—expanding participation, deepening partnerships, and amplifying the impact of quantum innovation in Egypt and beyond.
The hackathon brings together Egypt’s brightest students, researchers, and innovators, alongside international participants, to explore how quantum computing can address real-world challenges. With themes connected to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), participants will tackle pressing issues in climate science, healthcare, logistics, and urban planning, showcasing how quantum technologies can drive social impact.

To establish Alexandria as a regional hub for quantum innovation—where science, technology, and creativity converge to empower youth, foster collaboration, and drive sustainable solutions for global challenges.

The Alexandria Quantum Hackathon aims to cultivate a vibrant community of students, researchers, and industry leaders passionate about quantum computing. Through hands‑on challenges, mentorship, and international collaboration, the hackathon bridges academia and industry to accelerate Egypt’s role in the global quantum ecosystem.
